Creating a generative NFT collection requires combining different traits (backgrounds, bodies, accessories) into thousands of unique images. Here's how to do it using layer-based tools.
Step 1: Organize Your Layers
Create a PSD (or AI) file with each trait type as a group. Inside each group, place the variants as individual layers. For example: "Background" group with "Blue", "Red", "Gradient" layers.
Step 2: Use Batch Composition Composer
Open the Batch Composition Composer panel. Select your organized file, choose your output format and folder, then hit Generate. The tool automatically creates every unique combination.
Step 3: Metadata
The tool can also generate a CSV metadata file listing which traits appear in each output image โ essential for NFT marketplace listings.
For Illustrator Users
We also have an Illustrator version that works the same way with AI files. Perfect for vector-based NFT art.
Tips for Best Results
- Keep all layers the same canvas size for consistent output
- Use descriptive layer names โ they become trait names in metadata
- Test with a small set first before generating thousands
- Consider rarity by including some traits in fewer combinations
